ዮሐንስ 1፡9
"ለሰዉ ሁሉ የሚያበራዉ እዉነተኛዉ ብርሃን ወደ ዓለም ይመጣ ነበር"። 

መፅሐፍ ቅዱስ ስለ መጥምቁ ዮሐንስ ሲናገር "ስለ ብርሃን ሊመሰክር መጣ እንጂ እርሱ ብርሃን አልነበረም" ይላል። የብርሃን ምንጭ ሰዉ አይደለም። የብርሃን ምንጭ ጌታችንና መድሐኒታችን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ነዉ። በእርሱ የሰው ህይወት የሆነ ብርሃን አለ። ይህንንም ብርሃን ጨለማ ከቶ ሊቋቋመዉ አልተቻለዉም ደግሞም አይቻለዉም።እናንተ የዓለም ብርሃን ናችሁ ሲል የብርሃንነታችን ምስጢር ከክርስቶስ ጋር መሆናችን ነዉ። ብርሃን መሆን ከእርሱ ጋር ያለን ህብረት ነፀብራቅ እንጂ ብርሃን ናችሁ ስለተባለልን እንዲሁ የምንሆነዉ ነገር አይደለም። 

ማንም ልቡናዉና ህሊናዉ በሚፈርድበት ኃጢያት ቢመላለስ በእርግጥ የክርስቶስ ብርሃን በእርሱ እንደማይኖር ግልፅ ነዉ። በጨለማም የክፋትና የርኩሰት ሁሉ ስራ፥ ለሞት ፍሬ የሚያፈራ ክፉ የስጋ ምኞት ይነግሳል። ከኃይል ማመንጫዉ የተለያየ የኤሌክትሪክ ገመድ ብርሃን ሊሰጥ እንደማይችል ከክርስቶስ የተለያየም ህይወት የዓለም ብርሃን ሊሆን አይቻለዉም። እናንተ የዓለም ብርሃን ናችሁ የሚለውን ቃል ለመሆን ከክርስቶስ ጋር ያለውን ህብረታችንን ጠንቅቀን ልንጠብቅ የግድ ይላል።

ዛሬ በብርሃን ነን ወይስ በጨለማ? ለምሳሌ የእግዚአብሔር ቃል የትዕዛዝ ሁሉ ፍፃሜ ፍቅር እንደሆነ ይነግረናል። 1 ዮሐንስ 2፤11 "ወንድሙን የሚወድ በብርሃን ይኖራል ማሰናከያም የለበትም ወንድሙን የሚጠላ ግን በጨለማ አለ፥ በጨለማም ይመላለሳል የሚሄድበትንም አያውቅም፥ ጨለማው ዓይኖቹን አሳዉሮታልና"። ዛሬ ፍቅራችን ሲፈተሽ በብርሃን አለን ወይስ በጨለማ? ራሳችንን እንመርምርና እንመለስ፥ ጌታችንም በብርሃን እንዳለ እኛም በብርሃን ብንመላለስ በእርግጥ የዓለም ብርሃን እንሆናለን።

John 1:9 NIV
“The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the World.’ 

The Word of God described John the Baptist as someone who was not the light; but came only as a witness to the light. Man is not and cannot be the true source of light. The source of true light that lightens up the life of man is our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him is the light which is the life of men and which darkness cannot comprehend or withstand. The Word of God which says ‘You are the light of the World’ presupposes that the secret to being a light to the world lies with our fellowship with the Lord. To live out His reflection to the World, we need to nurture a constant daily walk with Him.

If anyone lives in sin, we know that the light of Christ will not dwell in him. As an electric line disconnected from the power source cannot provide light, a life without Christ cannot be a light to the world. All kinds of evil and the deeds of the flesh reside in darkness.

Today, do we live in the light or in darkness? For instance, let’s pose here to check our love, for the Word of God says that love is the fulfillment of the law. 1 John 2:11 says ‘But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in darkness; he does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded him.’ What do we see in our love, light or darkness? Let’s examine ourselves and live in the light, as our Lord dwells in the light. Then, our life will be a light to the world.
